The celebration of the Chocalheiro, an event that takes place in the first day of the year at Bemposta, a village in the Northeaster corner of Portugal, and that traces it's origins to the pre-christian fertility festivals of winter solstice. In it a demon character will go to each house of the village to gather offerings.
